Dr. Javed has been a founder member of BCTL and has been its R&D Director since its foundation in 2003. He has been involved in a number of projects, such as strain isolation, strain screening, strain improvement, and fermentation studies of thermophilic microorganisms. He is a co-author of a number of publications and patents. Dr. Javed received his B. Pharmacy and M. Pharmacy degrees from the University of the Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan. He received his PhD degree in 1993 from the Centre for Biotechnology, Imperial College, London, and then he worked as a post-doctoral fellow in the Department of Chemical Engineering, Imperial College, London.
In 1996 he joined Agrol Limited as a Senior Research Scientist and later as a Project Leader, where he held this position until 2003. He was a Research Consultant on a Shell Oil funded project at Imperial College, London (2003-2006) and Scope Interlink Ltd., Guildford (2003-2004). He has also been a Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Surrey, Guildford since 2003.
